And now for something different.
Today I’ve been invited by Pip from Meet me at Mikes to take part in a little interview, along with some other classmates of mine from a course we did last year. I’ve held off writing this, because despite loving to write and put it out there, what I write is never really focused on me. It’s just glimpses, which I can totally handle, but a spotlight? Gah. And now it’s the morning of, and I still haven’t done my homework, and hello sixteen year old self, chokers and dark lipstick are not for you…. Anyway. Feet, first, here we go.
(Also? Right off the bat, lemme tell you I’m drinking coffee, not tea. I’m writing this in the morning, and coffee is a requisite. The afternoons are for calm and tea and the stilling of minds.)
NAME, STATE, AND A BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO ON A DAILY BASIS
Well, I’m Bridie and I live in
a state of disrepair New South Wales. I’m at home with my three young sons each day, although I’m not always at home. We go on adventures, eat food, work for my husband and well, every day is different, and every day is the same. Cooking, talking, eating, reading, cleaning. Actually I don’t clean enough. Or at least, things around here are never really cleaned. Despite this, this morning my eldest looked at me with wide bright eyes and said Mum, I know a good idea. We can have a day where we don’t eat anything and you won’t have to clean and you can play with us for the whole day! Heartbreak!!
FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO
Um, eat. Spend time with fabulous people.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO BE
Out of the city. With the quiet and the horizon. Sydney is not our end goal, although in the meantime we’re determined to fully we enjoy our life here. Restless, but at the same time, living with satisfied minds.*
FAVOURITE THINGS TO EAT & DRINK
Cheese. I don’t think that requires any more explanation.
Water and red wine.
Mostly: books. Also: Pinterest. And Jamie Oliver. And Kinfolk. But mostly books.
SOMETHING I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT
Space. I understand very little about the vastness of space, but still, I am fascinated by it. It’s overwhelming, humbling, glorious. (Amongst other things) I’m currently reading this.
SOME FAVOURITE BLOGS
There were some great blogs I was introduced to through the course I did, City Hippy Farm Girl, Think Big Live Simply, and Grow Cook Sew, to name a few, although you can see more if you click here. Outside of this, my all time favourite is Girls Gone Child. She is my inner monologue. On home soil, The Veggie Mama, The Beetleshack, Coal Valley View and Foxslane all speak to parts of me. On faith, I love Jamie the Very Worst Missionary, Sarah Bessey and lately Micah’s thoughts at Redemption Pictures. [ED: Also, Sonia. Three boys and a sense of humour? Winner. Oh, and in case it didn’t go without saying, Meet me at Mikes is just fabulous.]
Okay. It’s the afternoon now, and I am having tea. The babies are sleeping and the kindle awaits, if you hop on over to Meet me at Mikes, you can read more Tea with Me interviews. If you’ve clicked over from Pips site and are thinking about doing the course, then jump right in! It’s very broad so whether you’re after technical knowledge(raises hand), general stuff or writing advice, this course will give you that and so much more.
